Dark Thorn Fairy World

I took this photo with my polaroid set to "negative," which is an effect i had become enamored with at the time.  The camera also has some in-camera effects.  So, i take a photo in Negative mode, then color it - blue, green, and red are the choices - and often, color it again a diff color.  Every generation looks a lil diff, altho there's a point of no return.  So, the manipulation for this particular piece was done mostly in camera, with just a lil bit of post editing.  I mean, really, some of these categories just don't work for me.  I've had things come out of the camera that look totally photoshopped (i hate that word coz i don't have photoshop, yet i heavily edit my photos with diff software).  So, do i categorize this "darkroom" even tho it hasn't had any more post editing than what pro photographers do?  My deviation called Surreal Plants went thru a similar process, altho it's had a bit more post. 

DARK THORN FAIRY WORLD
In the dark thorns at night, the dark fairies live, amongst sharp things.  Their purple, green, midnight blue world, lends itself to prickliness.  They are mischievous, and it's true by the dictionary definition, to be mischievous means to play pranks in order to amuse - but these fairies are more concerned with their own amusement, and not yours, nor mine.  They are the nature protectors, whose job it is to preserve what stings and sticks, to protect the beauty of the land, not to preserve what some clueless human blithely stumbling into that world wants to do.  What makes the fairies scary to some people is that they are nature sprites, and nature has a cruel streak - storms, tornadoes, flash floods, droughts, blistering heat, volcanic explosions, lava, ocean undertows, tidal waves, earthquakes.  All those things are necessary parts of the cycle of life, but they will take the little lives that get in their way.  

Mother Nature is giver of life, preserver of life, and taker of life.  Living in the Dark Thorn Fairy world are those fairies who would preserve life, the life of the plants in the forest, the life of the bees in their hives, the life of the rose bushes, the life of the briar patch.  They may sting your behind in order to preserve and protect their special charges.  They are their to remind us, we're not the only beings on earth, and even if we think we're the most important, Mother Nature always has a trump card.  She can take everything you have away - doesn't matter if you spent 400 million$ on your McMansion, a tornado can blow it apart, or an earthquake can knock it down, or it can slide off the mountain side in a flood, or it can burn up in a fire.  Unfortunately all those things will hurt poor people more than rich people, but that's our fault, not Mother Nature's.  All those things are an important part of the wheel of nature - just like a blackberry prickle serves it's purpose.  

Blackberry's grow like weeds, everywhere humans have been, blackberry's of some sort take root and grow, hearty, prickly, fast growing, dropping sweet berries that eventually smear across children's faces.  Blackberry's are a boon to poor, rural people, they help even the score just a little, coz poor kids will find hours of amusement, and sweet sustenance, digging thru prickles for a yummy fairy goodness.  The dark thorn fairies will do what they can to preserve their world, despite what humanity may want - but they also do what they can to make roses grow big and beautiful their sweet scent filling the air, sprays of roses topping over fences that can't contain them, coz the thorn fairies don't worry about human constructions.  They only worry about the plants they were born to love and tend to.  That's their world, and if you aren't careful you may get pricked - but if you are careful, you may find something lovely amongst the thorns.
